Many Hands for Abaco introduces some new team members and their roles. Read about each new staff joining MH4A, and feel free to say “Hello” if you see them around Abaco.

We are thrilled to announce that Many Hands for Abaco (MH4A) has been making a significant impact on Great Abaco Island for nearly a year now! As we reflect on our journey so far, we can’t help but be excited about what lies ahead. With God leading the way, we are expectant of the incredible things our dedicated team can achieve on the ground.

Sam and Lisa Berg in Abaco

Joining us from Bolivar, Missouri, are Sam and Lisa Berg. Sam, a former head baseball coach at Southwest Baptist University, and Lisa, an experienced elementary teacher and technology instructional coach, bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to our team. After retiring in 2018, they heeded God’s calling to serve in Pignon, Haiti. Their journey led them to connect with Many Hands, and eventually, they found themselves drawn to Abaco. Since joining Many Hands for Abaco in April 2022, they have eagerly embraced their roles and are ready to make a difference in the community. Lisa will serve as the Director of Education and Sam will take on the role of Director of Ministry and Benevolence.

Celekah Mills will support Lisa Berg as an Ark Teacher and Librarian at Central Abaco Primary School. She is passionate about her new role! Celekah’s love for reading and education began on the beautiful island of Andros. Her dedication to early learners and her desire to foster a love for reading in children will be invaluable to our programs. Celekah’s creativity extends beyond the classroom, as she enjoys singing, songwriting, cooking, painting, crafting, and, recently, sewing. With her husband Stephen and their three kids, she also cherishes beach outings and family game nights.

Tim & Deborah Winkler on the day they arrived in Abaco

Lastly, we have Tim and Deborah Winkler, a couple with 32 years of marriage and a shared passion for service. Tim, the founder and CEO of the Winkler Group, brings expertise in capital campaign management and strategic planning. Deborah’s involvement in establishing the Winkler Group and her extensive work in public education make her an invaluable asset to our team. Tim is the Director of Ministry – Abaco and Deborah is the Director of the First 1,000 Days – Abaco. Tim’s experience and leadership will guide us as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that come our way. Deborah will focus on forging strong connections with young and expectant mothers through our First 1,000 Days program, empowering them to positively impact their families and communities. Tim is excited about the pioneering aspect of our ministry in Abaco and is inspired by Many Hands’ passion, mission-driven approach, and biblical model of presenting the gospel through action.

Together, the Bergs, the Winklers, Celekah, and the entire Many Hands for Abaco team are poised to create lasting change and advance God’s kingdom in this community. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to the incredible possibilities that lie ahead.
