Laura Johnson, Director of IMPACT for Many Hands for Abaco, shares some updates on the island from the past few months. Generous support has empowered us to expand our outreach efforts and continue providing critical supplies to those in need.

As we conclude the third quarter of 2024, we are grateful to share developments and accomplishments that are happening in Abaco. We are thrilled to highlight several key partnerships that have greatly enhanced our capabilities over the past few months.

In August, Matthew 25 Ministries made a generous donation and sent their first container to us, which included 40 pallets of materials, including a variety of home paper products, baby diapers, linens, shampoo, deodorant, notebooks, and more. This invaluable support has enabled us to expand our outreach initiatives and continue to provide essential supplies to those in need.

Prime Fleet Services has graciously offered their services to maintain and repair our organization’s vehicles over the next two-year partnership. This collaboration ensures that our team can operate efficiently, allowing us to focus on our mission without interruption.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our partners for their dedication and commitment to our mission. These impactful partnerships are crucial to our growth and will continue to enhance our reach in Abaco, helping us make a greater difference in the lives of those we serve.

In August, we had the privilege of hosting our second Convoy of Hope Field Team based in Austin, TX. The team dedicated a week to serving our community, providing invaluable support to New Rehoboth Ministries. Their skilled volunteers shared their carpentry, gardening, and landscaping talents, significantly enhancing the church’s facilities and surrounding areas. This partnership exemplifies the power of community collaboration and the impact we can make together.

We are so thrilled to share that we have welcomed over 330 Impact participants to Abaco thus far in 2024, with projections indicating that we will reach 410 by year’s end. Our Impact trips continue to foster engagement by connecting individuals with meaningful opportunities to contribute to our mission. This growth reflects our community’s increasing commitment to positive change, and we are grateful for their role in fostering this engagement.

As we reflect on the five years since Hurricane Dorian, we honor the incredible dedication and drive of the Abaconians who have continued to press forward amidst adversity. Their resilience serves as an inspiration to us all, and we remain committed to supporting their journey toward recovery and growth.
